Spot the difference?

Can you spot the difference between this….

anonymised medical record 1

And this?

anonymised medical record 2

These are copies of an anonymised medical record. Both of these pages were disclosed by the same provider in the same case, although they were found hundreds of pages apart. At first sight they are ostensibly the same record, but there’s a difference  – potentially, an outcome-changing difference which might send the expert view one way or another.

Now imagine the pages had several hundred other pages of evidence in between them, and that there were dozens of true duplicate pages of other records mixed randomly in with them. How many collators could you trust to find this sort of discrepancy – every time?  It’s a lot to ask.

If you picked up the difference you might be the right person to join our team of medical collators.

At Clinco, we train our collators to the point where it’s second nature for them to pick up these things.  (Four of our senior staff have been SRA accredited trainers).  Even more importantly, Clinco will only employ collators with relentless attention to detail and our whole working environment has been designed to promote focus – think library or exam room.

Not for everyone? Absolutely right.  We only seek those with a rare combination of talents who enjoy drilling into the detail.  Case preparation in medical litigation is a key stage of the case and should only be in the hands of sharp-eyed analysts who have seen tens of thousands of pages of medical evidence, and know what to look for.  Including those odd discrepancies.

If you are a medical solicitor or barrister who has those rare qualities we value, and would like to be considered for a post at Clinco, get in touch by emailing sarahwallace@clinco.co.uk.
